Emily Shaw Record is a partner at Barrocas, Mintz, Misuraca & Record, P.C. Ms. Record has years of experience dealing with the legal, financial, emotional and psychological issues that arise in family and matrimonial proceedings having focused her practice exclusively to matrimonial, family law and divorce mediation. With a background in psychology, Ms. Record is sensitive to the emotional and family dynamics, as well as the financial and legal aspects involved in divorce, child custody, and other areas of family law. She provides reliable, practical, accessible and affordable legal guidance through even the most complex divorce, child custody and visitation issues and is dedicated to assisting her clients through these difficult times.

Ms. Record draws on her background in psychology to offer you the compassionate attention you deserve in this difficult and emotional time. She is a certified mediator having completed the Mediation Intensive Training Program through The Center for Mediation in Law and offers flat-fee divorce mediation for couples who wish to engage in a less adversarial process.

In addition to mediation and negotiation of divorce settlements, Ms. Record has extensive trial experience representing individuals in highly contested and contentious divorces, support and custody hearings.

Emily Record received her Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law and her Bachelor of Science from Fairfield University where she majored in Psychology. While at Hofstra, Ms. Record was a member of the Family Court Review where she was an editor of the Matrimonial Newsletter.

Emily Record has participated in Continuing Legal Education Programs for the Nassau County Bar Association, was a guest lecturer for “Bridge the Gap” and has assisted in the preparation of written materials for the New York State Bar Association CLE “How to Handle a Custody Case”. Ms. Record is a member of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association and Nassau County Women’s Bar Association.

Ms. Record resides in Manhattan with her husband and 14 year old daughter.
